This show delivers on everything expected from an epic superhero tale. Who would have thought that a seemingly uninteresting main character would turn out to be someone who can easily blow anyone away? The art and animation are top notch here, giving the show a great presentation. As for the story, it's funny, inspiring, and deserves the merit of being one of the best superhero anime.

Bald and unimpressive as he may look like, Saitama is doing his heroics for fun! He beats baddies for amusement and vanquishes them as if they were nothing. The secret to his strength? 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10-kilometer run every single day! He did this for three years non-stop and the result was gaining unparalleled strength. The word pirate doesn't typically associate with the ideas of being helpful, merry, and friendly. However, the Straw Hat pirate crew is different! Captain Luffy and his crewmates are one of a kind! 4. Naruto

It's the mischievous ninja of the Hidden Leaf Village. Naruto follows the epic tale of the titular ninja. Since birth, the chakra of the nine-tailed demon fox was sealed inside of him. This caused him a lot of trouble because the demon fox was a brutal nightmare for most of the people in the Hidden Leaf Village. Naruto grew up alone and alienated, and so, he's determined to prove himself worthy by being the light of the village—the Hokage!

It's a long and bumpy road for Naruto. The ninja road is laden with difficult trials and challenging tribulations. Will he be able to carve his own destiny and birth his own way of ninja? Just as he always says, believe it!

This popular hit is the hottest and coolest ninja story you'll ever find. With a narrative that closes in on the level of an epic, it's certainly a must-watch series! Just watch out for the filler episodes. There are tons of them and they may drag the show to a halt. Just skip them if you don't like them. But overall, Naruto is a great and fascinating anime. If you enjoy, you can read this list of similar anime.

5. Concrete Revolutio

Superhumans you say? There's a big collection of them in Concrete Revolutio! Witches, magicians, aliens, ancient beings, supernatural entities, you name it! They're all packed in this show.

The story of Concrete Revolutio follows the journey of Jirou Hitoyoshi. He's a member of the superhuman bureau, a group that oversees superhumans of all sorts and tries to keep them all in the shadows. One day, Jirou quits and rebels against the very organization he dedicated his life for. What is the meaning of all this? What are his motives? What is the real truth behind the Superhuman Bureau?

The best elements of this show is its art and story. The art is very colorful and will certainly captivate the viewers. As for the story, it's also very peculiar. It relies on flash backs to develop the story as a whole. Sadly, this show is very underrated. You should certainly watch it and experience it for yourself.

6. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

As if it wasn't noble enough to bring humanity back to its former glory, the heroes of this anime embark on an epic adventure that transcends the edges of the universe! Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann just oozes epic awesomeness.

I have to mention that the largest mecha in the existence of anime can be found in this show. The mecha here is so big that it rivals the universe. And with a mecha that size comes an equally sizeable story full of hot-blooded action.

Simon is a digger while his brother Kamina is a gutsy young man. Both live underground because it has always been that way. Humanity has been driven off the surface to live down below! The sky is nothing but a legend and the stars are only myths born from imagination. And so, both youths breaks free! Simon finds an ultra-rare drill-shaped device while Kamina's courage and determination propels everyone to the future!

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann inspires us to pierce the heavens and drill an epic future for everyone! If you want more inspiration, be sure to check out these anime similar to this series.

7. Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (Assassination Classroom)

Who's the greatest teacher of all? That would be Koro-sensei! He's an octopus-like yellow creature who's destructive and a threat to the whole world. He is also a teacher like no other!

This destructive creature just destroyed a big chunk of the moon, and now he's threatening to destroy humanity in a year. But before he does, there's a chance of salvation. He will teach a certain classroom just like a normal teacher would, and also teach assassination studies to his students. Their goal will be to to assassinate…him! That is, if they can do so before they all graduate! If the students succeed, humanity survives. If they fail their studies and the assassination, then it's goodbye earth!

Trust me on this, Ansatsu Kyoushitsu is a really great show to watch! It's not your typical anime series. It's fun, exciting, and inspirational. It can be surprisingly emotional at times.

You can check out this article for similar anime if you enjoy this one.

Superheroes exist in the world anime that are not too different from the ones you see from Marvel or DC. My Hero Academia is one of the more popular examples of superheroes anime in recent years. If you are interested in similar stories, you can check out these anime.

  • Gatchaman Crowds
  • Zetman
  • Samurai Flamenco
  • Casshern Sins

8. Nanatsu no Taizai (The Seven Deadly Sins)

From the continent's worst criminals to the world's saviors? Something is definitely out of whack! Meliodas, King, Diane, Ban, Merlin, Gowther, and Escanor—the Seven Deadly Sins are here to save the day!

Something's wrong with the Kingdom of Liones. The very swords and shields of the kingdom, the Holy Knights, are revolting and doing evil deeds everywhere they go. And so, Princess Elizabeth takes matters into her own hands. She goes on an adventure to look for the kingdom's most dangerous and brutal criminals! They are the Seven Deadly Sins and they're truly as powerful as they're rumored to be. However, they are not as wicked as their reputation says. Who could they really be? Can they really save the kingdom?

Now this one is a rising dragon in its genre. this will go down as an iconic series in the end. The characters are memorable and very interesting. The action and battle scenes are so good they'll knock you off your seat! If you enjoy this one, you can find similar action with these anime series.

9. Katekyo Hitman Reborn!

So why did I put this one here? Simple! Katekyo Hitman Reborn's main protagonist, Tsunayoshi Sawada, is a lot like Boku no Hero Academia's main protagonist, Midoriya Izuku. Both of them are seemingly weak, zero-to-hero kindred spirits. They are very ordinary and unlikely to achieve much. But then, they're also both determined and full of fighting spirit!

Katekyo Hitman Reborn follows the mundane life of Tsunayoshi Sawada. He's weak, timid, and can't even confess his love to his crush. He's actually treated as a loser by many. But, as destiny sets its course, Reborn comes to mentor Tsuna and bring out the beast in him. It turns out that Tsuna is the fated future boss of the Vongola mafia family! He sets out to train to fulfill his role.

Yes, this is another typical shounen series. But if you give it a chance, you'll eventually realize that it is more than meets the eye. The show may not quite be on par with the hype, but it's one that should not be ignored.

10. Kill la Kill

So I heard you like intense and exaggerated action? Yeah, you'd usually find that in superhero stories. Well, Kill la Kill has all that and more!

Ryuuko Matoi is on the hunt for her father's murderer. The only clue she has is the scissor-shaped blade she now possesses. This leads her to Honnouji Academy, the school that is ruled by the ruthless student council president, Satsuki Kiryuuin. Satsuki and the elite four are all tenacious and brutal, but this won't stop Ryuuko! She feels like Satsuki has the answers she seeks, and she's going to get those answers no matter what!

Yes, this show is all about style! The story and characters are very memorable and like nothing you've ever seen.

I started watching Katekyo Hitman Reborn a few days ago and it's one of the best decisions I have made in my entire life. The downside is the slow tempo and the insane ammount of filler episodes, but the story is 100% worth it

ElPsyKongruu on January 20, 2018:

Except Tiger and Bunny, and Concrete Revolutio I knew all of them, but I think I'll try out Katekyo Hitman Reborn - everyone is telling me that the start is real slow but I'm just the type of guy that likes these kind of stories.. I think some anime have to start slow to be able to intensify the feeling of the story, as a Steins;Gate or generally Mystery fan I know that it is worth being patient.

Jam on November 26, 2017:

Heard a lot of good things about Gurren Lagann so I'm gonna try that. One Punch Man is absolutely hilarious and it was the first thing I thought of when I saw Boku no Hero Academia.

Hitman Reborn is great, too, and I miss it. Gone are the days of my youth...

Alcard on October 22, 2017:

Concrete Revolutio, it's the only one I haven't watched. Heck, it somehow slipped under my radar.

Hitman Reborn is SUPER slow to start. I mean
